An information and resource center for internationally trained nurses who would like to enter the healthcare sector in the U.S. They can guide you through the New York State licensing process so that you can work in your healthcare profession again. The Welcome Back Center can also help you explore alternative careers in healthcare to pursue while you are on the path towards licensure. Damayan empowers low-wage workers to fight for their labor, health, gender, and immigrant rights. Damayan works in three areas: to provide critical services to trafficking survivors; to organize a strong membership base, and develop grassroots leaders; and to mobilize the community to advocate for policies and laws that guarantee fair labor standards and eradicate labor trafficking. Damayan Workers Cooperative (DWC) worker owners service NYC families, taking care of children and the elderly, and nurturing clean, healthy and safe homes and offices. DWC offers the following services: dog walking, office cleaning, elderly care, nanny and babysitting. Members of DWC receive support from a pro bono attorney for labor and immigration cases, receive financial assistance, food stamps, health coverage, counseling and family reunification assistance for trafficking survivors, and can attend Know Your Rights trainings, Workers Academy, Nanny Training, CPR certification and OSHA safety trainings.

Participants receive cash grants as an incentive for finding work and avoiding public assistance. A WES Gateway Program credential evaluation report can help eligible individuals continue their education, become licensed in their field, or take the next step on their career pathway in the United States. The report can be accepted by higher education institutions, regulatory bodies, and employers. WES works with designated partners to identify individuals who are eligible for the Gateway Program. The program is available to individuals educated in Afghanistan, Eritrea, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine, and Venezuela who meet program requirements.

Eligibility: Individuals who have been displaced as a result of adverse circumstances in their country and have limited proof of their academic achievements.

The Retraining Program for Immigrant Engineers (RPIE) is a 3-month program that provides professional training and job placement assistance to immigrants who were trained as engineers and IT professionals in their home countries, but find themselves unemployed, or in positions unrelated to their degrees or training. This program is provided by The Cooper Union in partnership with CAMBA to provide courses, professional development opportunity, and job placement support to those immigrants seeking to gain access to higher paying jobs in their career occupations.

Eligibility: Immigrants trained as engineers and IT professionals in their home countries. Immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers with a background in engineering, architecture, technology, or other related fields. Participation in RPIE does not impact immigration status. Authorized to work in the US.
