Employment

Damayan empowers low-wage workers to fight for their labor, health, gender, and immigrant rights. Damayan works in three areas: to provide critical services to trafficking survivors; to organize a strong membership base, and develop grassroots leaders; and to mobilize the community to advocate for policies and laws that guarantee fair labor standards and eradicate labor trafficking. Damayan Workers Cooperative (DWC) worker owners service NYC families, taking care of children and the elderly, and nurturing clean, healthy and safe homes and offices. DWC offers the following services: dog walking, office cleaning, elderly care, nanny and babysitting. Members of DWC receive support from a pro bono attorney for labor and immigration cases, receive financial assistance, food stamps, health coverage, counseling and family reunification assistance for trafficking survivors, and can attend Know Your Rights trainings, Workers Academy, Nanny Training, CPR certification and OSHA safety trainings.
