ASC is a lovely Organization. First I was reluctant due to my prejudice about Africa and was having issues with acceptability of services and dealing with fear of the unknown. However, stepping into the office change my perspective about the Organization at once. The Advocacy team lead Amanda and the Mental Health Expert are wonderful combination. The entire team was at their best. They organize different support group platforms to support Immigrants from Africa and from around the world to settle down in New York. They provide mental health services, legal services, social and psychological support and nutritional training programs. They run a support group for Family and Children and for LGBTI Immigrants from different Countries of the world. They run a free classes in English language and Freach and Spanish to enable Immigrants understand better the official language of America. I have been able to meet friends from Jamaica, Mexico, Brazil, Ghana, Nigeria, England, Ivory Coast etc. Their platform is an opportunity to share your experience and learn from others. I enjoy the part of checking in which is an innovative ways of saying what is going on with you. Their LGBTI Immigrants Support Group meetings happens twice a month on the First and third Tuesday of every month. The Organization also run a food Pantry to support Immigrants who are in need. Their office is easily accessible to clients and members who can get enrolled in services if eligible with either Nathalie or Amanda.
